George Orwell imagine the world of Big Brother in 1984. After twenty-four years it seems that this vision is taking place through Project Midas, according to that, every police force in Britain will be equipped with mobile fingerprint scanners, which will allow to carry out identity checks, right on the street.
Tony Blair says ''no limit'' to the number on the database. As a result, there are 484.000 children under 18 who are intimised , in the last 10 months ,only one million genetic fingerprints added to the database and the DNA is going to be held on file until the day of their death. Metropolitan Police claims that this project is a ''crime-fighting tool'' , though the DNA has taken regardless if the person has commited a crime or not.
More over , Heathrow Airport was the first started to fingerprint, in this way Goverment can capture every traveler's (British or not):
- fingerprints
- photograph
- passport details
- destination
- other itinerary data
- traveling companions
and through connection with other databases,
- credit card details
- spending habits
- home address
reminding us the Fasist system taking place during the Second War World. Also, there was not a puplic or parliamentary debate allowing this system.
In addition, the automatic fingerprint scanner is not 100 per cent accurent as Dr Gus Hussein of London School of Economics claimed . If it is not 100 per cent accurent, then the ideologie of this project can not be right and fair for all its citizens.
Britain's policy seems to be keen on this kind of Big Brother ideologie, as Britain holds the place of 1 per cent in the worldwide population, though the 20 per cent of CCTV cameras in the world. That means that 4.2 million cameras watch every move of Britons 24/7. As a result 1 camera for 14 citizens.
But all this, for which reason? We all know that the perpose of Project Midas is not 'the war against terrorism'. The control of immigration? This is about controling the ordinary person.
''As the system marches on, and like US-VISIT, they catch only 1000 people at a cost of FIFTEEN MILLION dollars each, pressure will grow for the system to be used to catch any criminal of any kind, meaning that they will broaden the definition of criminal to people who have parking tickets, fines, ‘CCJs’ and any manner of ‘offense’ no matter how trifling.'' BLOGDIAL mentions.
But there are more to come, facial recognition is the next priority, DNA sample universally, starting first from EU.Be sceptical about it.
